The Liverpool coaching staff and players paid their respect to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva at Anfield today.
The Reds squad gathered at the poignant memorial site that has formed outside the stadium in honour of the brothers, who tragically died in a road traffic accident in Spain last Thursday.
Liverpool coach Arne Slot, his coaching staff and the players were joined by Jota’s wife, Rute and members of his family.
The Liverpool squad added flowers to the memorial site outside the Main Stand, which features hundreds of condolences to Diogo and Andre.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan has confirmed that further talks are planned with the family of Diogo Jota.
Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, the FSG chief confirmed that the club will engage in ideas with the family of Diogo Jota when the time is right:
“It is early, it has obviously only been a few days.
I think the most important thing in this process is that we want to make sure we are respecting the family,” Hogan said.
“As a club, there’s been lots of ideas and certainly within the supporter base lots of ideas.”
“That’s something we’ll take forward with the family and we want to have those conversations at the appropriate time.”
“Obviously, they have gone through an unimaginable situation over the course of the last several days.”
“We certainly will, obviously, remember both Andre and Diogo and at the appropriate time we’ll make those plans clear.”
